If you find yourself in the same situation as Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead, and you awaken to an abandoned hospital occupied by zombies, you’ll need to think quickly about a possible exit strategy before you even contemplate thinking about the downfall of civilisation as you’ve known it.
Once you’ve made your exit, you’ll need a getaway vehicle. However, if you had a line-up of vehicles outside the hospital for you to choose from, which one would, you make your escape in? This is a head-scratching question, and one that I’m sure you’ll need the answers to, which is why Quick Sell Your Car have compiled a list of 10 vehicles ideal for your perfect getaway!
Table of Contents
1. Mercedes-Benz Unimog
Mercedes-Benz says the Unimog takes ‘all-terrain operations to the extremes’. It’s built to withstand the harshest conditions whilst offering unmatched reliability, and designed to perform in disaster recoveries, and we can’t think of many bigger disasters than a Zombie Apocalypse!
Standout feature: rear compartment benches up to 16 troops, handy if you’re looking to build an army to fight back
2. Conquest Knight XV
The Knight XV is an ultra-luxurious, handcrafted, fully-armoured SUV, powered by a V10, 6.8-litre bio-fuel engine. There are only 100 of these in production, so you’ll be pretty lucky to come across one of these in the eventuality of a zombie apocalypse, but if you do, you’ll be pretty hard pressed to find a better vehicle than this.
Standout feature: FLIR night vision cameras, mounted on the front and rear, on individual screens, which will literally give you more than two eyes on the road.
3. Sportsmobile 4WD Vehicle
Whilst fighting off the zombies through the fields and rocky landscapes, you need to have a good getaway when an unexpected herd attacks. The Sportsmobile 4WD Vehicle is probably the coolest van out – even cooler than the Mystery Machine! With this pimped out Mystery Machine you can make your quick getaway and stock up on plenty of special k bars and red bull!
Standout feature: Sturdy grill, perfect for clearing out the herds.
4. Jeep Wrangler
This military fit Jeep could be your lifesaver against all those walkers. Yes, it is a predictable choice of vehicle. However, since when was predictable a bad thing? Whether you are about to bring down ‘the wall’ or take on a whole prison of zombies, this Jeep Wrangler will definitely give you a great helping hand.
Although, you may want to opt for the hard top version just to be on the safe side!
Standout feature: Comes with a handy spare tyre for when you get a zombie bite to your tyres.
5. Fleetwood Bounder
The motor home was made famous by the show Breaking Bad. Why? It was used as a mobile meth lab. I’m certainly not recommending you to start ‘cooking’ crystal meth when you’ve managed to temporarily free yourself from a herd of zombies, but the vehicle offers a kitchen, bathroom, a bed and even living space to put your feet up when you’re tired from the running. Nifty!
Standout feature: Angled front face to reduce impact to the windscreen when running down zombies.
6. Bugatti Veyron
With the Bugatti Veyron, we will just let its speedy capabilities to speak for itself. With a top speed of over 250 mph and a 0-60 under three seconds, you can be guaranteed to make a quick escape from stumbling walkers.
Standout feature: Speed, speed, and more speed
7. Paramount Group Marauder
If you ever stumble across this mutant Hummer, you’ve found your saviour. With enough room for up to 15 people, you can say good bye to doing double trips from the supermarket and back home!
Standout feature: The Marauder protects against bombs and RPGs. We’re not sure how likely it is for a zombie to learn how to use an RGP or plant a bomb, but if they did, this would be the vehicle of your choice!
8. Toyota Hilux
For a zombie apocalypse, you need a car that will last through the tough times. We can guarantee that the Toyota Hilux can do that and then some. If any of you out there have ever watched Top Gear, you will know that this car was proven to be invincible. It has been through the ocean, attacked by a wrecking ball, set on fire and blown up – and it was still alive and kicking.
Standout feature: It’s Superman-like DNA.
9. Batmobile
The Batmobile can take on all of the Joker’s weapons, so a little zombie attack wouldn’t even scratch the bonnet. As far as features go, it has a jet-fuelled engine, rocket launcher and a set of missile-launchers. However, finding a Batmobile to assist you in a zombie apocalypse may be a tad difficult, and if you come across it, risking stumbling across a zombie Batman could be a risk too far to take.
Standout feature: the vehicle’s stealth mode can shut down the lights and engine, making it easy to avoid a heard of zombies.
10. Triumph Bonneville
OK, so this is the least practical vehicle on the list. However, the vehicle allows you to zip through places other bigger vehicles can’t, and of course, you’ll amaze your zombie friends whilst looking as cool as Daryl from the Walking Dead. A huge risk but a lot of fun!
Standout feature: a place to hang your crossbow, which will send your street-cred running through the roof.
